ALCON
DSM 5&6 Manufacturing Lines and Warehouse

Johns Creek, GA

Alcon, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer operating 24/7, sought to expand its FDA-regulated contact lens manufacturing facility in Johns Creek to meet growing global demand. The project involved a two-story, 35,600-square-foot expansion to enhance production capacity and modernize operational infrastructure.

This expansion includes a finished goods warehouse on the lower level and a manufacturing suite on the upper level, housing two new manufacturing lines. The building’s design features micropile foundations, a concrete slab on grade, a composite slab, a structural steel frame, masonry, and a curtainwall exterior. Key utility upgrades included a new electrical transformer, emergency generator, air handling units, exhaust fans, air compressor, process piping, instrumentation, and controls to support new production lines.

ECBuild and EwingCole executed this project with strategic phasing to maintain continuous operation. Through precise planning and design-build coordination, the expansion has provided Alcon with the infrastructure necessary for uninterrupted production, efficient demand management, and future growth potential.
